Description

The conference “Human-Centred Design for Innovation and Competitiveness in Healthcare Supply Chains” took place at the Department of Architecture of the University of Florence, promoting a discussion on the future of Design applied to Healthcare in Italy.

The event was organised by HCD-Care and Fondazione Symbola, in collaboration with Confindustria Dispositivi Medici, Farmindustria, and Deloitte.

The initiative created an opportunity for dialogue between universities, companies, designers, and innovation stakeholders, highlighting the growing role of design, Human-Centred Design, and Design Thinking in the development of medical devices, services, and healthcare technologies aimed at improving the experience of patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals, while contributing to more efficient healthcare systems.

During the conference, the HCD-Care Interuniversity Centre was presented, established through the collaboration of five Italian universities: Florence, Siena, Genoa, Pescara, and Rome La Sapienza. The event also introduced the Master in Design for Health 2026, developed in collaboration with institutional and industrial partners.

The conference included contributions and case studies from companies operating in the fields of healthcare, medical devices, and technological innovation, fostering a multidisciplinary discussion on emerging opportunities and future perspectives for the sector.
