Description

On 22 May, we took part in the conference “L’Ergonomia che cambia le Relazioni. Prospettive operative nel tempo della complessità”, organised by SIE Toscana under the patronage of the DiDA Department of Architecture, at the Novoli Campus in Florence.

The day opened with a keynote lecture by Giuseppe Vitiello, Stare nel mondo insieme agli altri, a reflection on the value of relationships, open systems and complexity, contrasting collaborative and dynamic models with closed and rigidly determined visions. A presentation that offered important insights into the role of ergonomics as a discipline capable of interpreting and accompanying change.

Among the day’s presentations, Prof. Francesca Tosi, head of the LED and former national president of the SIE | Italian Society of Ergonomics and Human Factors, delivered a talk entitled Ergonomia come fattore di innovazione sociale: scenari e prospettive di sviluppo, dedicated to the strategic role of ergonomics in processes of social, cultural and design transformation.

During the morning, LED researchers Mattia Pistolesi and Ester Iacono presented the talk “Ergonomia, design, inclusione”, outlining the research projects Home Care Design for Parkinson’s Disease and XAll – A whole new guide, dedicated respectively to the ergonomic design of domestic environments and inclusion in museum contexts.

A valuable opportunity for discussion, allowing us to share approaches, methods and perspectives on the role of ergonomic design in creating environments that are more accessible, inclusive and focused on people’s well-being.

Our thanks go to the conference organisers, to the President of SIE Toscana, Gabriele Corbizzi Fattori, to the members of the SIE Toscana executive committee — Alessia Brischetto, Simona Crea, Gabriele Frangioni, Cipriana Mengozzi, Eleonora Mostrominico and Tiziano Pacini — and to all the speakers and participants who, through their stimulating and multidisciplinary contributions, helped to foster dialogue on the themes of ergonomics, inclusive design and social innovation.
