Abstract
MetaMic is a transdisciplinary research project involving expertise in the fields of architectural history, architectural representation, computer communication design and digital IT.
Its goal was to create an immersive virtual environment dedicated to Michelangelo Buonarroti's unrealized architecture, reconstructed in their original urban contexts, transforming works that existed only in the artist's imagination into a digital experience.
The project integrates features of contemporary metaverses, such as 3D immersion, augmented reality, interactivity, and user participation, in compliance with FAIR principles. It allows users to explore, share content, and interact with each other, also offering engaging and playful experiences.
MetaMic aims to be an open space for the production and exchange of knowledge, supported by a team of Michelangelo scholars and experts in architectural surveying, communication, accessibility, and digital enhancement of cultural heritage.
