Abstract

The research aims to develop Guidelines for the application of methods and procedures for the integrated ergonomic evaluation of risk conditions linked to the use of highly manual industrial machinery in SMEs, with a focus on older workers. The proposed tool combines analysis of biomechanical risks (dimensional and postural) with approaches from User-Centred Design and Ergonomics for Design, enabling the identification of critical factors and the definition of intervention criteria for adapting or redesigning workstations, ensuring safety, efficiency and well-being.

The Ergonomics & Design Laboratory (LED) contributes through the integration of Occupational Ergonomics and User-Centered Design, developing an innovative evaluation procedure to guide adaptation and design interventions. This approach supports the improvement of usability and safety of machinery and workstations, reducing risks and increasing process reliability.

The project promotes innovation in manufacturing by enhancing production quality, usability, and operational simplicity. Key outcomes include the reduction of postural risks, errors in machine use, and improved comfort, working conditions, and task efficiency. Additionally, it supports quality strategies through better process control and optimization of production times.
