PROJECT DESCRIPTION

General Objective

The objective of the research was the definition of Human-Centred design guidelines and requirements for an innovative and design-oriented medical device, aimed at: (i) increasing the levels of usability and safety of use by users, and the quality of the user experience (User Experience); (ii) aesthetic and functional innovation of the devices; (iii) component and topological optimisation; (iv) optimisation of the choice of materials and production technologies with regard to feasibility, sustainability and commissioning aspects in relation to the assumed production volumes; (v) evaluation of opportunities for customisation of production based on production/sales technologies 4. 0.

ESR  Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate is a blood test that measures how quickly erythrocytes settle at the bottom of a test tube that contains a blood sample. It’s an ACUTE PHASE MARKER. An ESR may also be used to monitor an existing condition. VES MATIC 5 performs ESR test directly in the EDTA primary tube. Same tubes used for blood count, taking them from the blood cell-counter racks. You can insert new racks or remove those already processed in random access mode. No further action is required. The rest is handled by the instrument. Through the automatic reading of the barcode and Host query, instrument asks the central system which samples need to carry out the ESR test and only these are processed. The tube is analyzed without being opened and without sample consumption. Using multiple optical scans, the system measures the real sedimentation of erythrocytes inside the test tube, without altering the state of the sample. After 25 minutes the end of the analysis, tube is returned to the same position of the same loading rack, intact. Efficiency is guaranteed by software controls with the aid of cameras driven by A.I. (recognize the type of test tube and the characteristics of the sample, hemolyzed, lipemic, coagulated) using "machine learning" techniques and adapt the scans by improving the performance of the test (diagnostic sensitivity, specificity and precision). No calibration, washing or sanitizing operations are required. No use of reagents, no production of waste liquids. Maximum safety for the user, less time spent.
